It's all good. However, I believe that game you were referring to without single player was called... Quake III: Arena. |

Only reason I asked, is because you talked about all the new features and game types for on-line, but didn't mention single player. Had me nervous there for a while. Remember id did release a game with no single player once (can't remember what it was ) so I had to ask.

Of course there are new levels. What would an expansion pack be without new levels? So far, I actually like the new levels in this new expansion pack better than the original levels in the original Doom 3 game. They are short, and brisk. However, I'm not that far into the game. I'm still about knee-deep in the water. But I honestly believe this: the expansion pack is better than the original Doom 3; they should've swapped the two and made the expansion pack the Doom 3 game, and the Doom 3 game the expansion pack, along with making a few minor adjustments to the storyline so that it's still the same story. But the new artifact in the expansion pack, as well as the 3 Hell Hunters which are like mini-bosses that look like Hellknights on steroids, is a great idea for the story line. Makes the game much more interesting, because you gain a new ability for your artifact for each Hell Hunter you kill. That's just my opinion. Let me know what you think when you get it.
I forgot to mention something in my last post regarding mang's question about CTF in Doom 3 RoE. One thing that really annoys me in the CTF mode, or actually in the online part of the game, it's really tough to strafe jump in Doom 3 RoE. Because with the lag and all, even if my ping is good, sometimes when I press jump, it doesn't register to the server, so my player doesn't jump. So in order to actually strafe jump, I have to constantly be tapping my jump button (mouse2). But CTF is still really fun. |

Is there new levels for single player? I was going to get it, but just haven't got around to it. I got a copy, but it requires a cd key, so I can't install and try it out. I'll be getting it soon. My friend got D3 for X-box and says it kicks butt. He said the graphics are awesome. Now why couldn't they do that on the PC. You have to have a kick ass system to get it to look nice and the XB has years old hardware. Whats with that? I know why, I'm just bitching.

The CTF mode is really fun. They made a few improvements on the expansion pack, off from the original Doom 3 multiplayer. The ping is more stable, there can now be up to 8 players in one server, and the Double-Barrel shotgun is great too. As for the CTF mode, I think it's fun. Kind of reminds me of Quake 3 Arena from 5 years ago when I was a newbie. Walking around the map, not knowing where anything is, but having fun shooting at people. There's 4 CTF maps (at least that's all I've played so far) d3ctf1, d3ctf2, d3ctf3, and d3ctf4. All four maps are pretty easy to learn, they all have identical map structures. All four maps are kind of like q3ctf3, with different variations. The FPS is still shitty, but what else can you expect from a game that is made up of eye-candy. I'd say go for it, spend your Best Buy gift card and have yourself a ball!
One important note, Doom 3 Resurrection of Evil requires the original Doom 3 game to play. So if you didn't buy Doom 3, you can't play Doom 3 RoE until you have Doom 3 on your computer. |

Just curious...have you tried the ctf that comes with it? |

I just bought the Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil expansion pack yesterday for $35 at Best Buy. So far I like it. Two new weapons: a Double-Barrel Shotgun, and a "Grabber" (Half-Life 2's Gravity Gun, hint-hint ). |
