BTW, What is your home page. You never listed it in your profile and I was just wondering and wanting to take a look. If it's not public yet (still working on it) then thats OK. I was just wondering.

Thx Div'. Yeah, I _didn't_ notice it (even though I looked Wink. I thought you might have some note like that. I still missed it. ;-P

So it's all php powered. I'll check out PostNuke.

I can't run any cgi stuff on my own home page, because my isp doesn't allow any server-side code. What a bunch of weanies. I never bothered to get any other website that allows such.

But here at work we need a bbs to share stuff. Management said "mmmm, ok... " but wants us to do all the work - _then_ they'll answer as to whether or not we can have room on some server. Currently the suggestion is to use one on the other side of the Continent (and in a fureign country). So there'll be politics in trying to get some server space.

I'm just at the beginning stages on all this stuff. Thx for the heads up. BTW we have something already (Sharepoint) which is kinda like using a hammer to kill a fly. We're asking the question, should we just use Sharepoint or should we look elsewhere.

Toadcrest out.

Incase you didn't notice it says at the bottom of the page. "Powered by PNphpBB2 © 2003-2004 The PNphpBB Group". It's a port of "PHPbb2" to work as a module in postnuke. Postnuke is the "Content management system" I use to run the site. They both run in PHP and a database. SQL database, to be precise. Both are open source. There are a bunch of opensource forums or bullitin board programs out there, but most all run out of a database. If your hosting service doesn't give you a database, there are a few that run in perl. The one I used to use was YaBBse. It's a perl forum that runs in your cgi-bin folder and stores the posts in text files. If you need any help picking or setting up, let me know.

Uhhh... what blog/bbs software do you use for the forums here? Is it commercial or OSS?

What kind of maintainance do you have to do to keep all this running? I know html, and I've got the basics of putting together a webpage, but I'm a noob when it comes to blogware, etc.

But now I need to know.
