The most durable mouse I have ever tried is that wired Microsoft mouse you mentioned. I remembered back when you and I were playing Q3A together on your Ventrilo server, you mentioned that you used a Microsoft mouse and that it's pretty tough and durable. They are pretty affordable, and I see kids at the cyber cafe harass and endlessly pound on those mice, yet they still last a while.

OK, it's offical! This wireless mouse sucks for gaming. It seems to be OK but lacks the precision needed for gaming. Also, I'm not sure why, but the buttons stick. Not the physical button, but the signal or something. So for fire on left mouse click, it will repeatedly fire until I tap it again. Not always, but just when things are tense and your trying to conserve ammo and need that extra shot. (Seems that way). Or when you have the flag and are low on health and you fire a rocket at a bad guy and run around the corner only to have it continue to fire and kill yourself with splash damage off the wall your trying to hide behind. I've checked the buttons themselves and they seem fine. I've had corded mice have sticky buttons and you can see where it stays down or catches on the center portion where the scroll wheel is. But this seems fine. No binding and no staying down.

So I'm in the market for a new mouse. I've tried the logitec standard optical corded mouse and the fire button only lasts about six months. The microsoft optical corded mouse seems to last about a year. Any ideas for a nice optical corded mouse for about 50 bucks or less? Something with some staying power. I hate to have to buy one every six months. I'm hard on that fire button. When I rail, I have a tendancy to swing my crosshair over the target and slam the fire button at the moment I need to. This leads to some hard taps and allot of them in a heavy game. I can't rush out and get one right away (money a little tight now) but I'm open to opinions on new types etc. to read reviews and see how they feel in my hand. I hate the ones that have an edge or somthing that just doesn't feel good in your hand. I'm a shopper, so I'll go around and "feel" allot of mice before I buy. Very Happy Anyways, any opinions?

I've used some old as well as new wireless mice in the past. I'm not a big fan of wireless mice. I'm the same way with the mouse wire as you two are, it doesn't bother me at all. Just set it to the side, twist it up or put a weight on it and it's like it's not even there. But everyone is different, some people like wireless, others do not. The mouse I use now and have been using for about the past year is the Logitech MX518.

So far so good. It's nothing I would buy for myself, since wires don't bother me either. I got it as a Christmas gift and the one I was using started to flake out. So far it's been kinda cool. I played a few games of quake with it and it doesn't seem to have a difference from a wired one except that it feels different. I still haven't gotten the speed and accel tweaked yet. Also the shape of the mouse itself is foreign too.

Still think it needs more evaluation to get a full vote from me, but so far, it seems like a winner.

Hi Div, how goes?

I tried a wireless mouse at a friend's house but that was YEARS ago when they first came out. I'm sure they have improved a lot since then. I still use wired since the wire doesn't bother me and I don't want to mess with charging or replacing batteries. So, has it been working out for you?

I got a wireless mouse for Christmas and my mouse finally died, so I hooked it up. Wow, what a trip. This thing seems to work nice. The feel is different from my old mouse. I still have to set the speed and acceleration so I can play quake with it, but it might work ok. Have any of you used a wireless mouse and have you had any issues with them? I'll let you know how it works for me when I get a chance to play.

P.S. It's a Microsoft wireless optical mouse. model #1008.1013
