q3dm6 is a great map too. I like the professional version better though, pro-q3dm6. I love that Lightning Gun.

Actually no, screw that, I don't know why no one calls the maps by their names instead of reffering to the syntax title

I know why you love that map. Because it's so hard to defend the flag against you. You have that perfect RJ from the bottom to the flag and those RJ's to cross the middle that are so hard to stop.

My favorite map is CTF4. Only when teams are even in skill level. Doesn't matter if numbers are even, just that skills are somewhat ballanced. I think I like is so because, when I first started years ago, it was the best map to test your skills. It seems like it was the only map the best players played on. Back when the original Thunderpants server was the place to find the top players, and that was the only map. It's an all skills map. No place to hide and no place to run.

Next to that is CTF1. I think it is a well ballanced map, not to big and not to small. CTF3 is too big when you only have 3 or so on each team, but it works better with 5-6 on each team. CTF1's flag is easy to defend and fairly easy to cap. With the right moves, a good player can dominate.

Those are my picks, I know it's supposed to be one, but what the hell.

To help spark up a campfire in this forum, I decided to start a thread on people's favorite maps.

What is your favorite Quake 3 Arena map and why? It can be from any gameplay mode, mod, ect.

My favorite map is q3ctf3. It has what I believe a perfect map structure, with plenty of armor, health, powerups, weapons, and ammo. It is relatively easy to defend on. Yet, the reason why I love it most is because there is plenty of room to strafe jump within it, and there are so many good places to rocket jump from for flag carriers like myself. Wink
