I share the nearly the same view too, since I'm Catholic. It's probably safe to say that Ratzinger (Benedict XVI) had no choice when he was forced into the Nazi Youth. Not many of those poor kids had a choice. Although he's in good shape now, I think he did have a stroke or something back in 1991. But I like him, and I think he will be able to fill in the late Pope John Paul II's shoes nicely. As far as women being priests, I'm not a fan of it, but I don't exactly have a problem with it either. As far as gays serving in the priesthood, that's already happening. With all these disgusting pedophile priests around. I'm totally against that idea, and I wish Pope John Paul II had addressed that issue while he was still here. I hope with Pope Benedict XVI, since he is oldschool, will address that issue right away and do something about it to fix it. If we have to go as far as allowing priests to marry to stop all this pedophile nonsense, then I'm up for it.

Well, he seems to look in great shape for 78. I hadn't heard about the Nazi youth thing, but then again, I understand allot of the kids back then didn't have a choice. Also, what about repentance and forgiveness. I think he's overcome any problems with his youth. I am glad to hear that he is "old school" in the doctrine of the church and doesn't seem to be one to start changing the rules. All this liberal crap about gays and women priests just doesn't seem right to me being raised Chatholic. Women are allowed to be a part of the church in there own way, people who want them to be alowed to be priests are out for there own agenda. And gays just don't belong in the priesthood. We have seen what trouble happens with pedifiles in the preisthood, we don't need more trouble or attention.

So what does everyone think of the new Pope? So far, he is getting a lot of criticizm for his past, such as serving in the Nazi Youth during World War II. He has also made a statement saying that "his reign probably won't last long" since he is 78 years old.
